The name "Allegria" is an Italian word for happiness. The name was adapted
from the famous Montreal Circus (Cirque du Soleil) show called "Alegria" which
means happiness in Spanish. Note the single "L" in the latter name.
The logo of the company reflects two characteristics of Allegria Promotions. The green
dot represents personalized, focussed activity and the spiral reflects the whirlwind,
tornado-like characteristic of Diane Yanire, one of the founders. Diane is a French
Canadian with Italian blood brought up in Montreal, Canada. She is now an Australian
citizen living in Sydney. Diane's partner in the company is
her husband Alex Gostin; trying to ensure that the tornado does not spiral
out of control.
About the artist Olga Gostin
Born in 1926, Olga was schooled in Shanghai, China in a European
community. After her arrival in Australia in 1949, she enrolled in East Sydney technical
College to further her studies. It was not until Olga retired in 1981 that she actively
started painting watercolours of Heritage Australian Architecture.
Olga painted more than 300 paintings from 1981- 1991. This represents one every twelve
days over a ten year period. She continues to find examples of her work hidden in closets
even though she is convinced that all the paintings have been uncovered. Olga continues to
paint and recently completed her Balcony Views
collection.
